Exploring South American Wine & This Week's Tasting

We are heading South for our wine tasting today......and checking out a little of what Chile and Argentina has to offer! I can say for sure is that you will easily find some serious wines at some great values from these areas.

Whites - We are big fans or Torrontes - a unique white wine that you find often in Argentina. Its a fun white for summer - a lot of times it can showcase super floral notes on the nose but is much drier on the palate. Typically it sees no oak aging so its just light and easy to drink. Same with many of the Sauvignon Blancs coming from this region.

Reds - Big red lovers can totally find wine from South America to be right up their alley. Big, dark fruited, fruit forward Malbecs hailing from Argentina (along with Cabernet) where the climate is warmber and robust and earthy Cabs and rich yet herbaceous Carmenere in Chile. These wines always make me think of bbq and grilled meat, which we do often in the summer.

So literally there is a little something for everyone.

These two countries are really up and coming in terms of wine production - boasting some of the most modern wineries around. Chile and Argentina are definitely on our "wine bucket list" places to visit.

Check out tonights line up and if you are around be sure to come by and taste as we take a little tour through South American wine country! Tasting starts at 6:30! ($10 for 5 wines)
