Meza Wine Club: February 2025
Discovery Red / White
Wine 1: Le Rive Gavi di Gavi
The Le Rive vineyard is situated at 260 metres above sea level, with south-facing exposure that ensures full sun throughout the growing season. The 60-year-old vines are rooted in the clay-rich soils of Rovereto, which retain moisture and provide ideal conditions for the Cortese grape. The Mediterranean breezes from the nearby Ligurian Sea help preserve the grapesᄀᆵ natural acidity, lending freshness and balance to the wine.
The nose is elegant and refined, offering aromas of citrus, green apple, and white flowers, complemented by subtle notes of almond and wet stone. On the palate, Gavi Le Rive is crisp and precise, with flavours of lemon zest, green apple, and pear, balanced by vibrant acidity. The win pronesounced minerality adds depth, leading to a long, refreshing finish with a touch of salinity. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, particularly shellfish, as well as delicate pasta dishes, risottos, and fresh salads. It also complements soft cheeses and serves as an ideal aperitif.
Wine 2: Chateau de Passadieu Cotes du Bourg Bordeaux
The wine has rich black fruits, dark in color from the Malbec in the blend. It is fully structured, ripe with tannins that are beginning to soften. This is a fine wine, solid and ready to age further. Purity and freshness of fruit are the hallmarks of this attractive offering from the Bourg. A Bordeaux that impresses with notes of plums and black pepper, and refined texture on the finish. Bordeaux is a classic wine to pair with robust cheeses or braised beef or stew. Perfect for these last cozy winter days.
Add on: El Goru Gold
Blend of 80% Monastrell, 15% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
This dark ruby wine has a bouquet of black currant, espresso bean and aniseed. It is soft on impact, then plush tannins set into the palate with flavors of blueberry, dark plum, mocha and oregano that dissolve into a Valencia orange finish.
