Wine 1: Alexander Valley Vineyards ‘Sin Zin’
In 1978 Hank Wetzel produced the first vintage of Sin Zin and wine drinkers fell in love with the elegant, balanced flavors of Zinfandel from Alexander Valley Vineyards. Story of the Label: Everyone is always curious about the origin of Sin Zin’s label. Leafing through an old art history book, Katie Wetzel Murphy came upon a captivating illustration, a German etching, drawn by Moritz von Schwind around 1843. The image was titled: Des Knabben Wunderhorn, meaning “The Boy’s Magic Horn”. Katie thought the image looked perfect for a wine label, and its bacchanalian character inspired her to name our rich and robust wine Sin Zin. The first vintage debuted in 1978 and was given to friends and family. The label has been updated four times since that first vintage. Loads of spicy, fruity aromas of dark fruits - black cherry and boysenberry, dark chocolate, black pepper, oak and a hint of vanilla. Dark fruits & spicy pepper. Smooth & lush. One of the most versatile food wines, try it with antipasto platters, hard cheeses, pizza, grilled meats, roasted poultry or Italian cuisine.
Wine: Milenrama Rioja Blanco
Milenrama is a fresh, vibrant, great-value Rioja project from the winemaking team of sisters Ruth and Ana de Andrés. Sourcing from thirty-year-old bushvines in the rolling foothills of the Sierra de la Yerga in Rioja Oriental, they are applying clean and modern but sensitive and unobtrusive vinification to hand-harvested fruit in order to achieve a delicious range of contemporary Rioja in all shades: white, rosé, and reds both young and oak-aged. Milenrama is Spanish for “yarrow”, a wildflower commonly encountered along the edges of vineyard paths in Rioja. Intense aroma of exotic fruits (passionfruit, pineapple), citrus and herbs. On the palate appear notes of stone fruit like peach and whitefleshed fruits like pear and apple. A nice, floral finish typical of Viura and Tempranillo Blanco.
