Enthusiast Red / Red
Wine 1: Crotin Barbera d’Asti
This wine has been a constant favorite of many of our top Italian restaurants and others with Italian influenced cooking. It comes from likely the coldest section of Asti—quite close to Turin—which was the first area to be abandoned after WWII (because it had a train station while many other areas further south didn’t!) and one of the last to be replanted since. It’s a wine that showcases the classic qualities of Barbera, Piedmont’s most widely planted red grape. It’s fresh and textured with soft tannins and mouth-watering wild fruit qualities. Think of those Italian cooking nights without the need to hold the wine so precious; just let it lift your spirit and raise your glass in appreciation for the Italians and their contribution to the world with their splendid culture. Lighter in body, elegant and fruity with notes of red fruit and minerality.
Wine 2: Buil & Gine “Gine Gine” Priorat
A beautiful red grown in slate rich soils in Priorat - made from Grenache and Carignan. With body and structure, GINÉ GINÉ outstands for its genuineness and aromatic intensity (nose and taste), enhancing the high concentration of fruit (red berries, pomegranate, cherries) of the wine. Jammy and fresh, with an integrated acidity and ageing potential. Undertones of aromatic herbs such as eucalyptus and mint, and spices such as pepper bring out the mineral character of Priorat wines.
A wine that is characterised above all by its enormous versatility. It combines very well with foods with floral touches, with aromatic herbs, pepper, anise or cinnamon, balsamic touches, toast or pastries, and also with robust, meaty fish.
“A well-balanced, medium-bodied version, offering flavors of wild strawberry and cherry fruit, red licorice and a touch of loamy earth backed by fresh citrus peel acidity. The lightly chewy finish reveals milled pepper and thyme. Cariñena and Garnacha”.
