Meza Wine Club: July 2026
Natural Red / White
Wine 1: Cantin Arte Pecorino
Grapes for this beautiful Pecorino wine are grown at both 300 and 700 meters above sea level, in clay and calcareous soils. Two different vineyard sites each provide character to the wine, and grapes are grown Organically. Flavors play across notes of citrus, peach, mineral and butterscotch.
The winery is female owned and operated ( which we love!)
Pairs well with dishes utilizing fresh tomatoes and goat cheese, or chicken or veal.
Wine 2: Modales Winery (El Suelo) Red Blend
Tasting Notes:
Black Plum, Cardamom, Violet, Black Cherry
Pair With:
Pepperoni Pizza, Hot Dogs, Roasted Beets, Porch Hangs and Game Night
Cellar Notes:
El Suelo translates to “the soil”. It’s a celebration of place & people. Red wine that is meant to be
shared! The 2024 vintage of El Suelo brings us full circle, back to the original vision: a highly chuggable,
chillable red that’s playful, fresh, & effortlessly food-friendly. Inspired by the vibrant reds of Germany &
Austria, this blend doesn’t try to be the loudest wine in the room, it just vibes. Sourced entirely from the
sustainably farmed Kroupa Vineyard on the Old Mission Peninsula, this year’s El Suelo reclaims its
Germanic roots with a juicy mix of Dornfelder & Blaufränkisch. Dornfelder brings the plush, dark-berry
fruit & that irresistible inky color. Blaufränkisch adds a savory, spicy lift & the type of aromatics that
turn a casual sip into a second glass (or third). Each variety was fermented separately & pressed early
to keep things bright & low on tannin. Dornfelder was aged in stainless steel to lock in its lively, grapey
charm. Meanwhile, Blaufränkisch saw some neutral French oak, giving it just enough earthy depth
without overshadowing its vibrancy. After a few rounds of blending trials, the final cuvée was aged
together in stainless steel to unify all the elements. It’s juicy, bright fragrant, unpretentious & so
drinkable. Seriously, what’s not to love?
